Stability chamber temperature and humidity monitoring
A stability study is only as credible as the chamber record behind it. If the chamber's own controller is the only witness, the study has one point of failure and no independent evidence.
India sits in ICH climatic Zone IVb, which makes long-term stability storage 30 °C ± 2 °C at 75 % RH ± 5 % RH and accelerated storage 40 °C ± 2 °C at 75 % RH ± 5 % RH. Those tolerances are tight, and the humidity tolerance is the one that usually bites — a chamber can hold temperature beautifully and still drift on RH as its humidification reservoir depletes or its sensor fouls.
Two arguments push towards independent monitoring. The first is evidential: a controller that both regulates and reports is a single point of failure, and an auditor is entitled to ask what corroborates it. The second is practical: mapping a chamber for qualification requires multiple simultaneous measuring points at known positions, which a built-in controller cannot give you.
ABH-300 gives four Class-A PT100 channels plus on-board temperature, humidity and barometric pressure on one timebase per instrument — the instrument you map a chamber with, and the instrument you leave behind to monitor it.
The expectations behind the record
What an inspector or auditor looks for in this use case, and the framework each expectation comes from.
Storage conditions held within ICH tolerances and evidenced
Zone IVb long-term storage at 30 °C ± 2 °C / 75 % RH ± 5 % RH and accelerated at 40 °C ± 2 °C / 75 % RH ± 5 % RH, with the actual conditions recorded throughout the study period rather than asserted.
Chamber qualified and mapped, loaded and empty
Operational qualification includes empty mapping and alarm challenge; performance qualification maps the chamber loaded, over a representative period, including a door-opening and power-failure challenge.
Excursions assessed against the study, not just logged
An out-of-specification chamber period has to be evaluated for its effect on the samples, documented, and carried into the stability report — which requires the excursion record and its assessment to live together.
Computerised system controls on the monitoring data
Access control, audit trail, and the inability to overwrite a recorded value — the same expectations that apply to any GxP record apply to the chamber history that supports a shelf-life claim.
The failure modes nobody budgets for
Every one of these is a real reason monitoring programmes lose their audit trail — or lose the trust of the people who work with them.
Humidity drift the controller reports as fine
RH sensors foul and drift faster than temperature sensors. When the controller's own sensor is the reference, a slow drift out of the ±5 % RH band is invisible until a stability result looks wrong.
Mapping with single-channel loggers
Nine positions in a chamber means nine instruments, nine clocks and nine calibration certificates — plus the reconciliation work to line their timestamps up afterwards.
A 24-month study interrupted by a 20-minute outage
The outage is survivable; an unevidenced outage is not. What matters is having the magnitude and duration on record with the same rigour as the rest of the study.
Alarms nobody receives because the lab is empty
Stability chambers run over weekends and holidays by definition. A local buzzer is not an alerting strategy for a study that costs more than the chamber.
Engineered for this, specifically
Each point below maps to a documented platform behaviour — not a marketing promise.
Mapping-grade coverage per chamber
ABH-300 carries four Class-A PT100 channels (±0.15 °C at 0 °C) plus on-board T/RH and barometric pressure, all on one timebase — so a mapped chamber is one instrument and one audit record instead of nine.
Independent humidity, not the controller's opinion
On-board Sensirion SHT41 sensing gives ±2.0 %RH max alongside ±0.2 °C typical temperature, which is what makes an independent check on a drifting chamber controller meaningful.
Offline instruments for chambers without a network drop
ABH-300-L runs an extended offline campaign on AA lithium cells (a calculated design estimate of roughly 3.5 years at firmware defaults) where a stability suite has no usable radio coverage.
Excursion, assessment and signature in one record
An out-of-band period, its acknowledgement, the QA assessment and the e-signature that closes it enter the same SHA-256 chain with identity, timestamp and meaning of signature — the artefact a stability report needs to cite.
Study-length reporting without spreadsheet archaeology
Trend queries run over years of time-series data, and PDF and Excel exports carry excursion statistics, MKT and the calibration status of every channel in scope.
The ABH loggers for this job
Abhilekh runs its own logger line end to end — one manufacturer owns the chain from probe accuracy to the signed record.
- ▸PRB-PT100-3W — Class-A immersion probe, four per ABH-300 via the probe board
The ABH line is at the design-frozen, pre-production stage. Every battery-life, drop, thermal and IP figure is a calculated or simulated design estimate, and the regulatory marks referenced on this site are a certification roadmap — not held certificates.
